Support the Writer
As of writing this, I am a team leader at a Burger King making $8.90 an hour (state min wage is 8.15 last I checked) and I work an average of 35-38 hours a week, which I know is a lot more than some people, and a whole lot less than others. I'm lucky in fact, I'm able to afford to live in my own apartment. But this is a just barely afford at the moment, this could change, and if it does I would be too busy working to pay my rent and buy food to write if that were to change.
But my passion is for writing, I work really hard on it. I want to make a living off it one day, to not worry about jobs and simply spend all day writing. I think that some people have a misconception about the level of work that goes into writing, and some don't. Some know that it's hard and time-consuming. Either way, all writers deserve the chance to make money off their work, like any other artist.
If you enjoy my writing, genuinely enjoy it, there are a few things you can do to help me be able to work towards supporting myself with it.
I have both a ko-fi account and an inactive-till-I-finish-getting-things-set-up-here Patreon. Donations would help a lot in getting me; time off to work on writing, better writing set up, a coffee or two at the cafe that I write at, dopamine chemicals in my brain so I can be less anxious and write better. I also have a Beta-books account that I really need the premium upgrade for it to benefit me, and with that, I could make incredible progress with my original works.
Sharing is caring. Tell others, especially tell them about my original works like Beneath the Surfaces. Helping me to expand my audience would be great for building a community and gathering the opinions of others so that I can improve the site and my writing.
Which brings me to the last point; opinions. Comment, here, on tumblr, on Ao3, tell me what I'm doing well and what I need to improve. Tell me it's good to tell me it's bad, but make sure to tell me 'why.' Feel free to also tell us what you think about the blog set up, we would be happy to make adjustments so that it is pleasing to the audience.
However you choose to support, we're all grateful. And I appreciate that you are willing to give me a chance.
